Description

Shingrix Vaccine is a vaccine that is used to prevent herpes zoster due to varicella zoster virus (VZV). It stimulates the immune system to prevent such infections that may occur in any age group, but mostly in those aged above 50 or those aged above 18 with compromised immune systems.

Shingrix Vaccine is to be administered by a healthcare professional in the muscle of the upper arm. It is usually given in two doses, 2-6 months apart. Do not skip any doses and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

Shingrix Vaccine may cause redness, pain, and swelling at the site of injection. It may also cause fatigue, muscle pain, headache, shivering, or fever. However, these are temporary and usually resolve on their own in some time. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you. Your doctor will suggest ways to cope with the side effects.

This vaccine is usually safe to be used in pregnant women. However, breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before taking it.
